Final Walk Through - What to Check

You've made it through the inspection, appraisal, and are in the home stretch! Now all you have to do is get through this final walkthrough and the house is yours. But the final walkthrough is more than just a formality. The final walkthrough is your chance to ensure that everything that you negotiated for was indeed completed and nothing is out of sorts before closing.

Here are things to check in your final walkthrough:

1. Inspect ceilings, walls, and floors now that they are blank.

2. Flip every light switch.

3. Test heating and air conditioning.

4. Try out the garbage disposal and exhaust fans.

5. Test all of the appliances.

6. Open and close all doors and windows.

7. Test out outlets.

8. Check around all visible piping for leaks or cracks.

9. Run sink and tub water. Flush toilets.

10. Test garage door opener.

11. Check for things you thought were included (light fixtures, appliances, etc.).
